The off-season is an essential part of life here in Ptown. It is a much-needed break—a chance to size up where you are and to prepare for next season. The high season is so crazy busy, you really do need some time to rest and recharge. Some restaurants (like us!) close down. Others stay open and use the off-season as a chance to do fun, experimental or small-batch things that they’d never have the time or resources to manage in the busy season. Since we are closed here at The Pointe until mid-February, it seemed like a good time to highlight some of our fellow restaurants in town who are open year round.
This month, Mac’s Fish House Provincetown is bringing back its Winter to Spring Dinner Series on select Wednesdays through April 19. Each special dinner event featured a multi-course meal and paired wines. Upcoming dinner themes include Braised Meats & Slow-Cooked Foods, Pan Asian, and New Southern. Sage Inn & Lounge is offering a series of culinary classes covering themes such as pasta making, classic summer foods, and how to grow the ideal cocktail garden. Classes are taught by Head Chef Lucio Garnica and Mixologist Corey Sievers. For tickets and more information, click here.
Ciro & Sal’s cozy (think soft lighting and wood burning fires) ambiance makes it the perfect spot for dinner on a chilly winter’s night. As an off-season special, the storied Italian restaurant is offering two entrees for $25, Monday through Thursday nights.
On Fridays-Sundays this winter, The Canteen is offering a Tavern Menu, with food inspired by seminal Ptown cookbooks by Peter Hunt (my hero!), Howard Mitcham and Mary-Jo Avellar. The dishes will accommodate all palates, from vegan to meat-lovers. To see the menu, click here.
